Firearm Transfer Process
1. Purchase and FFL Selection
- Purchase the firearm of choice on your favorite online store.
- Select Timothy Brauer (see address below, if necessary) for your FFL to ship the firearm.
Some stores will have the FFL file on file already;
some will require me to send it to them.
2. First visit
- When the firearm arrives, call or text to set up an appointment.
- Bring your state ID to the appointment.
- You'll fill out the ATF eForm 4473 on my laptop.
- If you have a valid North Carlina CCW Permit, you'll skip to step 5.
3. Background Check
- All transfers require a background check unless you have a valid North Caroline CCW Permit.
- If you require a background check, this can take a couple of days to go through.
- Background checks are done through the NICS system.
4. Pickup
- Once the background check is complete, I'll contact you, we'll set up an appointment and you can pick up your firearm.
- Make sure to bring your state ID.
- Sign the ATF Form 4473 and any other required paperwork.
5. Payment
- Payment is due at the time of transfer.
- At this time, you'll sign the eForm 4473.
- Cash, Venmo, or Zelle are accepted.
